Jon writes music to inspire those who want to bring to life images and emotions that once vanished into time, to give soul and color to every new day.
Jon is an award-winning cinematic and metal composer/producer based in Ohio. He specializes in epic, cinematic walls of noise for use in trailers as well softer, intimate textures for films and other visual media.
Jon has composed for a variety of short films, a couple being STAR SWINE and Drown which both won Best Score at the Richmond 48 Hour Film Festival and Best Score at Midwest Slam Fest, respectively. When he is not writing music for films, Jon focuses on producing epic trailer music for Universal Production Music (of which has been featured in promos and ads on FX, CBS News, ESPN Sports, and for Ninjago: Dragons Rising Season 2 Part 2.)
One of Jon's favorite aspects of music is collaboration- and he has worked with a variety of industry figures on projects. His most recent project, Bioluminescent Soundwaves, featured vocal performances from Julie Elven, Rachel Hardy, Viky Boyer, and Adrienne Cowan, as well as Bansuri performances from Sandro Friedrich. He also collaborated with Atlanta-based composer Robert V. Lampkin on "Arcane Skies", of which was recorded live by Budapest Scoring and also features vocals from Julie Elven. Collaboration is where real magic takes place.
Jon is majority self-taught in aspects of music composition and production. However, he was accepted as an Auditor into the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive in 2022 under the instruction of Conrad Pope, William Ross, and Angel Velez. In 2023, Jon was also chosen as an Auditor for the inaugural Joy Music House Score Production Workshop under the instruction of Catherine Joy.
Musically, Jon draws inspiration from a wide range of sources. Composers like Thomas Bergersen, John Powell, and Hans Zimmer are the most prominent, while his favorite metal musicians include Devin Townsend, Ice Nine Kills, and Darko US. Taking elements from genres outside of the cinematic realm and mixing them together is a great source of joy for him, and helps define his unique sound.
